My sincere condolences to my family. Dear cousin Bud, I've been reflecting these past few days on my fondest memories of you. You being one of, if in fact not the first born of we your cousins; my first memories are of your love of family. The respect you had for my father, your Uncle George, given his PTSD following his war service.
Then, because I was one of the younger cousins the admiration I had for all that you were. We looked up to you for your wise remarks. You elevated us in times of grief. Although the miles separated our families, You will be sorely missed, I will hold my memories of you forever in my heart.
Love your cousin Janie,

My deepest condolences to all of Bud’s loving family and friends. Bud was a pioneer for women’s hockey in our town and in the province. I was so lucky to be a part of many of his teams over the years - one of “Bud’s girls” as he would call us. The time and dedication that he gave to the sports of hockey and rowing was truly remarkable and he has left a lasting mark on our community. Bud worked tirelessly so that so many could be involved, be active and to have fun. He believed in everyone, regardless of their skill level, which was how he really built these sports. Bud instilled in so many the importance of volunteering which became very evident through his children and grandchildren - Fred coached me in both hockey and rowing and Brendan in rowing. Bud always had a warm smile and a big hug for me no matter how much time had passed since we last met. He will be missed by so many but we are all so lucky to have been a part of the things that he built over the years!

A true legend of our times makes his exit from the stage of life .
Bud departed in a way he would have wanted -he was active to his last breath.
His contributions locally and across the Province are well recognized - surely he gave out much more than he took back - he was a true giver and a doer .
He and Mildred raised a fine family - many of whom have also given back to their Communities
Bud was my friend and he was a friend to many - he will be missed - his candle burns on .

Mr. Chafe was so involved in his community and was respected by many. I had the pleasure of his expertise as coxswain when I last rowed on Lady Lake a few years ago – he knew his stuff! Hold on to the memories…sometimes they will make you laugh and sometimes they will make you cry but they will always keep him close to your heart. Mildred and family, it was very saddening to hear of Bud's passing. Many days were spent around your door when I was younger and had the privilege of getting to start to know bud then. That continued with Bud coaching me in minor hockey. After finishing hockey, I found myself alongside Bud in the fire dept., on the regatta committee and low and behold, back on the ice coaching a Pee Wee developmental team. Bud was a very inspirational man and was always a pleasure to be part of the things he loved and just to have a chat. He will be flying high in heaven and looking over you all. May God grant you strength during the hard and trying time.

So sorry to hear of his passing :( a wonderful man who loved his community and all those around him, such a kind friendly man with a heart of gold. The sporting community and everyone lost a terrific dedicated person who gave 100% heart and soul. It was an honor to have known him. My Dad ( Gord Dean) and him were lifelong friends until my Dads passing in 2011. He always spoke so highly of "Bud" the man just had such a sweet friendly demeanor. It was easy to smile when u seen him. True class act and a Man among Men. My family and i send our deepest condolences
