TO THE FAMILY OF GORD,
I knew Gord while working at Carbonear Hospital.
Could not help notice his quiet gentle way and patience with the elderly.
His common sense shined out like a bright light.
He was a comfort to me in his dealings with my own mother during her end stage health.
Sometimes we never say Thank you enough. I was so grateful to him.
He will be missed. I offer sincere condolences to you all during this most sad time.

Condolences to Gord's family and friends.
I have lots of teenage memories driving around in Gord's old blue Rebel with Burden and Parsons listening to Jimi Hendrix and hitting Ted's takeout just before closing for a scoff.
Cruising to Spout Cove on summer days and Gord reciting "Smoke Room On The Kyle" to a tee. Laughing to kill ourselves all the way there and back, sometimes with bruises, scrapes and cuts.
The wounds are all gone but the crazy memories remain, Gord was a good all around bloke and will be missed.

Debbie and family,
When faced with the enormity of loss, such as the loss of Gord Ash, words feel inadequate. There is no perfect combination of words that will take away a grieving family’s pain. But I believe Helen Keller may have found the closest approximation to the perfect combination when she said, “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Those who have had the immense privilege of being in the presence of Gord - from friends, family, colleagues, and the community, will take pieces of his one in a million personality wherever they go. May you all hold your memories close and each other even closer during this difficult time.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy.

To Debbie Kim and the rest of Gord’s family.
There are many people that come in and out of one another’s lives. Some of them make a long lasting impression. Such was Gord .
I remember when I first got to know him , in my early days of Haircutting . Here he was this dude , way taller then me, which is rear , all the muscle and of course the Motorcycle.
Intimidating to say the least .
Until he requested a perm . Yes Gord had a perm. Lots of them . This guy , larger then life, sitting there with pink perm rods in his hair, was no longer intimidating after all.
He loved the result (a head of curls) and I gained a friend and soon saw the soft side , the man with the big heart .
With life’s uncertainties, we went in different directions but every time we crossed paths , he was eager to learn of my adventures.
Gord , you will be missed but you will never be forgotten. Our Lost, Heavens gain

I would like to send my condolences to Debbie and family and to the ash families.Iknew Gord from working at CGH,We always had a great laugh. When he would come around with his stern face I would call him Jim(Belushi) I think he secretly liked that.I saw the soft side of Gord when he showed me the pictures of his dogs and the video of Gibson saying his grace.Gibson will certainly miss him, please be good to him as he will be grieving as well.Gord was well liked at the hospital and he was good at his job,he was nice to my brother Reg after he had his stroke and he would only do certain things for Gord. All the old ladies really liked Gord.I remember one day Gord came up the hall with Irene by one hand and Harold P by the other and he said I,m trying to get the two Youngsters of to school ,they only came up to Gord,s waist.I will certainly miss Gord and all the galeing we had.Ialso know that whatever hymns are sung at his funeral Gord will be saying #242 in your hymn book but #1 in your heart.Rest in peace old chum.

So saddened by our friend and buddy Gord’s death. He is now at peace and illness free. Deepest sympathies to Debbie, Sheryl, Jennifer, and Gibson (Gord’s best buddy and 4 legged friend), and family. I hope you find comfort in the beautiful memories you have shared in your precious lives together. He will be missed by all who knew this kind, gentle, compassionate, softhearted thoughtful man, who could put a smile on the most saddest, hopeless face. Gord was a leader and people person, and a great human being, a pleasure to be around. I will always cherish the fond memories I have of our late teenage years beating around in our old cars, the parties, times at “the Attic”, sharing an apartment house in town, riding our motorcycles, our Club times, the jokes, songs, our weekend get togethers down in the garage, the many laughs, etc. to numerous to mention. Sorry you had to leave us this soon, but I guess God’s got bigger things planned for you my friend. God bless and ride free...

So sorry to hear of Gord’s passing. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humour and his Kind and caring way.
Gord had a big presence when he walked into a room and if you saw him at a party, you knew you were going to be happily entertained. One of our favourites was his rendition of “The smoke room on the Kyle”. Gord was always there for his friends and we remember fondly how he helped care for my father “Felix” and his beautiful rendition of “A mother’s love” at mom’s wake.
Growing up in the “Cove” has left us with many wonderful memories of Gord, such as hanging out in Ash’s shed and enjoying dance parties at Ned King’s house.

Debbie, Sheryl Jennifer and all family members; So sorry to hear of Gord’s passing. I got to know Gord when he was elected to Council. He quickly became a friend and I was talking to him about three weeks ago at Canadian Tire. I didn’t realize he would pass away so quick but, he is now at peace. Gord was a genuinely nice man. He had that way about him that you could laugh and carry on and feel at ease. He was a transplanted Villager but, did a lot for the Town during his stint as Deputy Mayor. One thing that comes to mind is the beautiful park down on the corner of King’s Road and Old Salmon Cove Road. He was so proud the day of the dedication. I could say a lot more but, I’ll say to Debbie, you have lost the love of your life but, he will always be with you and will be watching over you from Heaven. Fly High with the Angels Buddy.

Reading this, I just can’t believe it. To his wife, daughters, family and friends....my deepest condolences. I first meet Gord when we started a summer relief job at the Harbour Lodge many years ago, we worked together a couple summers. We followed similar paths in Health care and our Union, we attended conventions , stood on a couple picket lines and worked a couple Union campaigns together.
Rest In Peace now Big Guy

To Gord's extended family and friends.
I have fond memories of growing up with Gord in our boyhood school days in Carbonear. He was always quick with a joke, a laugh, a story or a harmless prank. The kindest, easy going, nicest guy you would ever want to meet . So sad to hear that he was taken from us in the prime of his life.
My deepest condolences and sympathies go out to Gord's entire family and circle of friends at this saddest time. Rest in peace, old friend.

To Debbie , The Ash Family , Gord was a powerful light that walked this earth sharing friendship, encouragement and kindness while here. Anyone that meet our tall buddy would always remember him. He had a way to brighten even the darkest days. Eastern Health had a great worker in Gord Ash. Anyone that had the privilege to work or befriend him would never forget him. We all have our favourite stories of Gord , mine is passing chalk out the portable at James Moore window to us kids at Davis.
Riding with his four paw best friend on the tank ,reciting Newfoundland stories, and making us all laugh.
You will be missed my friend. Byron and I know the Heavens are very much having a Irish party today with Ace , Gord and all those that passed before.
We only get to walk this earth for short time . But one day we all reunited together once again. Tonight We solute you Mr Ash , you certainly left a great impression on all those you meet here on earth. Here’s a beer solute to you until we mee again .
Debbie and Family our deepest condolences.
Christine and Byron not goodbye, just until we meet again Gord !
