Obituary of Gary Swain

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, March 15, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Gary Swain of Carbonear, age 70 years. Predeceased by father: Gilbert; brother: Darrell; sister: Melissa; parents-in-law: Aubrey and Susanna Dean; brother-in-law: Gordon Dean. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 46 years: Janice (nee Dean); three daughters: Shelley (Jeff Butt), Shena (Jason) Martin, and Kristen (Hughie) Smith; two precious granddaughters whom he cherished: Isabella and Ellaline; his mother: Ruby; brother: Gilbert; sister-in-law: Helen 'Margie' Dean; two nephews: Eugene (Julie) Dean and Carson Dean; niece: Janice (Peter) Dean-Connors; friend: Paul (Marie) Williams, who was like a brother to Gary; employee/driver/friend: Kevin (Andrea) Loveless; also a large number of other relatives and friends. After battling cancer for 6 years, he peacefully left his earthly home and entered his heavenly mansion of which he yearned for the last few months and on many occasions he was heard to say: “Lord I want you to take me Home”. He was a kind considerate man who went above and beyond for others. He was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He loved his family dearly and was a friend to many. He gave his life to the Lord in 1979 and served the Lord faithfully and attended church until ill health prevented him to do so. He worked alongside his father for many years as mechanic and truck driver. In 1990 he started his own trucking business and called it “Eagle Transport Ltd” based on scripture verse Isaiah 40:31 – “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint..” In everything he did, he always did in love and put God first in all his decisions. His attitude and Faith in God kept him with us longer than we had anticipated. He knew how to wait, stand still and Let God Move. He has gone to be with the one he loved and his loved ones. We have the hope that we will meet again. Gary was a person who helped those in need without wanting recognition. To honour him, donations may be made locally to the Salvation Army food bank or Single Parents Association. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private committal service will take place on Thursday, March 18 at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Victoria. ********
