Obituary of David Higdon

Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, March 20, 2021, David Higdon of Carbonear, age 75 years. Predeceased by parents: Gordon and Mary Elizabeth; brother: Gordon; sister: Marie Hoskins; brothers-in-law: Frederick Vaters and Leonard Mahaney; sister-in-law: Elsie Welcher. Leaving to mourn, wife of 54 years: Margaret; son: Philip (Jackie), Carbonear; two daughters: Inez (David) O'Keefe and Tina Higdon, both of Carbonear; nine grandchildren: Dawson, Brooke, Rebecca, Justin, Jessica, Rachel, Brian-Patrick, Amanda, and Siobhan; three brothers: Selby (Mabel), Green’s Harbour, Pleman (Tena), and Clifford (Pauline), both of New Harbour; five sisters: Alice Reed and Melva (Brian) Ouelette, both of Windsor, ON, Bernadine (Alistair) Gilbert, Hopeall, Elaine (Mervin) Hoskins, New Harbour, and Loretta Higdon, St. John’s; brothers-in-law: Clyde Hoskins, New Harbour, Solomon Welcher, New Wes Valley, Tom Mahaney, Willis (Cindy) Mahaney, and Garfield Mahaney, all of Carbonear, Silas (Florence) Mahaney and Philip (Joan) Mahaney, both of Hr. Grace, and Norman Mahaney, Tilton; sisters-in-law: Margorie (Joseph) Oliver, Edith and Eileen Mahaney, all of Hr. Grace, Bessie Mahaney, Victoria, and Ada Vaters, Carbonear; also his Salvation Army family, and other relatives and friends. Due to pandemic restrictions, there will be no visitation. A private funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 23 from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Carbonear, followed by interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Carbonear.
