A wonderful educator. She taught me for two different years. Even when she wasn't my primary homeroom teacher, I had classes with her in many different subjects over the years.
Definitely a person of grace and dignity. She taught me the meaning of these words long before I knew what they meant. She carried herself with great class. Not the kind to do with money or wealth, but how she conducted herself and treated others.
She was such a good teacher. She never raised her voice or put me down even once. She was always good to me. I have mad respect for this woman.
I wish I could have reconnected with her again when I was more of an adult.
Tara and family, she was fantastic at her job and touched so many peoples lives. Only good memories of her!
She was an amazing human being,

Justina graced our family with her friendship not only during the years we were in Lab City, but her caring connection continued long after she and Frank returned to Harbour Grace with many phone calls and occasional visits. In particular I particularly remember a visit to her home in Harbour Grace in the summer of 2010 with my daughter, Gillian. Gil came away from that encounter so uplifted and at peace because of the wonderful conversations Justina engaged her in reminiscing about life in Lab City. Justina gave love naturally. Her presence seeped into your soul and made you feel cherished. My heartfelt condolences to Frank, Liam, Tara and all the family.

We’d like to send our condolences to Frank and all the family. We shared many enjoyable evenings with Justina & Frank. Justina would normally sit us down when we arrived at her house with her list and would go through her penetrating questions as well as adding a few more as she thought of them along the way. With Frank they made perfect host with every detail done to perfection. She was full of life, joy, style and she always had a few tricks up her superbly coordinated sleeve. RIP Justina

The Fleming Family,
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We have so many cherished and precious memories of Justina, and Frank, from our days in Labrador West. Most importantly for us was Justin’s pleasant and welcoming big smile. She had a special way of ‘lifting you up’ by the way she was always interested in what you were up to in recent times. She was a true friend! Justina had a way of making a conversation out of some minute item…we loved her for that! There was never a pause in a conversation with Justina in the room. And, there was often a sense of humour that was mixed in with her comments. She was just a wonderful person and we feel so very fortunate to be part of her journey. She certainly had a good influence on those around her!
Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with each of you as you celebrate your precious memories of charming Justina.
Sincere regards,
Gordon and Holly Saunders

Justina was so very special to me, all the Flemings are. I will forever cherish all the wonderful memories that our families shared together in Lab City, and the numerous visits made back and forth across the pond too. Justina and Frank had me stay with them in Newfoundland when I met my birth father back in 2009. It was a really lovely visit and I love that Justina and Frank were a part of it after being so close to our family since the day I had been brought home. I am so pleased I got to spend those few days with them.
I'll never forget all the hilarious stories and anecdotes that Justina would tell in a way that only she could. I can hear her now and still see her perfectly timed facial expressions. She really was something so special.
Thank you Justina for bringing my parents (and all of us) SO much joy, happiness and ESPECIALLY laughter. We love you and we miss you.
Sending all our love to family and friends. Louise xxx

Justina and Frank have been a hugely significant and precious part of our lives since we met 49 years ago in Churchill Falls.
Our first encounters were regular invitations to their apartment after little toddler Liam had been read his final story and bedded down. They introduced us to Crib, rum and coke, purity crackers, velveeta cheese and late nights of hilarious never ending chat. Magic! Delight!
We subsequently all moved to the same street in Labrador City where we spent many wonderful years raising our families in close proximity and sharing joys, special celebrations, woes and worries. No-one could have been more thoughtful, kind, empathic, clever, generous, intelligent, caring, hospitable - and funny - than Justina Fleming. She was an inspiration in her attitude to life - joyful, fun- loving , loquacious, with the gift of turning the mundane into exquisite entertaining anecdotes with no detail spared. She was a mistress of the art of conversation, never at a loss for topics, engaging you in the chat, teasing, recalling things about your life you’d forgotten yourself, debating - but with no thirst to win the argument. Perfect!
No one could have been a better friend, so sweet and loyal, always going the extra mile, always being interested and out- reaching.
She was a whirlwind of activity, a superb, gracious hostess with delicious meals, a dedicated, inspiring and much loved teacher , and a totally loving devoted wife and mother.
Once we’d left Labrador and lived elsewhere our friendship never dimmed. We met up almost every year in Newfoundland, in the UK or on holidays and totally relished those times.
We have lost a pearl beyond price - one of life’s true treasures - and we will be forever grateful that we had her in our lives for all these years. Rest in peace our dear friend.

Justina was so special to me. She was so warm, her home was always welcoming and I considered her family. She was an auntie who lived 4 doors away. I remember being amazed at the length of time she and my mom could talk on the phone. Hours and hours. When we moved away I frequently wrote to her and she always wrote back. She was always interested and made you feel special. Her letters are treasured and keep the memories alive.
I am so proud to have known her and so heartbroken for all her friends and family.

Dear Frank, Tara, Liam and Family,
We are thinking about you and sending love. Justina was irreplaceably warm, loving and caring with an open heart and open arms. My fondest memories of childhood are visiting your house on Christmas Eve (Christmas didn't start until we saw the Flemings!) and the many special times we spent together as families. Your home was a warm and comforting place and Justina made it that way. She had an empathy for everyone she met and a way of speaking to people I always admired. She took the time to notice small things and made those around her feel special. Justina was irreplaceably kind and will be sorely missed by so many who loved her.
Sending our heartfelt love and condolences,
