Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, May 14, 2022, Wilson E. Layden of Victoria, age 71 years. Predeceased by parents: Albert and Virda; parents-in-law: Melvin and Elizabeth Porter; brothers: Ed, Albert, Allen, Vernon (Marion), and Terry; infant sister: Kathleen; infant brother: Andrew; nephews: Bobby, Jackie, and Anthony; niece: Barbara Ann. Leaving to mourn, wife: Maxine; two daughters: Sherry (Chris) Butler, Bristol’s Hope and Dawn (Brent) Smith, Mount Pearl; two sons: Melvin, St. John’s and Andrew, Victoria; five grandchildren: Jonathon, Brandon, Casey, Ben, and Michelle; special pets: Lily and Patches; three brothers: Eugene (Kim), Harbour Grace, Jim (Paula), Victoria, and Vernon (Vanessa), Job’s Cove; four sisters: Hilda (Bill) Jarvis, Mount Pearl, Virda (Gene) Cole, Paulette (Ken-deceased) Duggan, and Beulah Layden, all of Victoria; four sisters-in-law: Evelyn Layden, Carbonear, Jeanette Layden, Harbour Grace, Barb Layden, and Gwen Layden, both of Victoria; special friends: Kirk Farrell, St. John’s, Fred and Fhemmy Snooks, BC; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Monday, 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Church, Victoria. Interment in the United Cemetery, Victoria. Masks respectfully asked to be worn during the visitation and funeral service.
