Obituary of Gertrude Mary Coady

Please share a memory of Gertrude to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gertrude (Gert), in her 85th year, passed peacefully away at home with John, her life partner of 60 years. We will deeply miss her presence at home from her devilish laugh, happy go lucky approach to life, quick retorts, her love of fashion, shopping and finding good deals. While she lived her married life in Harbour Grace, a piece of her heart always belonged to Carbonear. She was a proud daughter of Agatha and Patrick (Paddy) Finn and sister to Loyola (Ellen), James (Elva), Gerard (Floss), Kevin (Anne) and Patricia (Peter Withers). Her in laws, Linus, Irene (John Morrison), Jay (Jean), Carmelita and their families were welcomed by Gertrude. Gertrude will be watching over her pride and joy, Brian, and guiding Bernadette (Tony Green and their children Hannah and Miya), Ellen, Michelle (Bernie Power), John (Isabelle and their child Sarah) to carry on her love and protection of Brian. And, Mom would never forget her “6th” child Louanne. There is a large network of nieces and nephews and cousins in the Coady and Finn families, lifelong friends and wonderful caregivers that were very significant in her life. The family will receive friends and relatives at Noel's Funeral Home, Harbour Grace on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 3:00 p.m. We invite you to celebrate Gertrude’s life at mass in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Carbonear at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday September 10, 2022. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the restoration fund for St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, P.O. Box 429, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1B8 or to Radio Station VOWR 800 ( for donation information).
