So very sorry to hear of Alastair’s passing. I just saw on CBC. I didn’t know he had passed. My husband Brian Tuff, worked with Collis’ many many years ago but always talked about his memories of working there with Mr and Mrs Collis and Alastair, when he was older. We met Alastair on a flight from Toronto to St Johns years ago and Brian and Alastair reminisced about the past. Oh my we laughed so so much. Alastair was so funny. We laughed all the way to St. John’s. I would say to Brian how I never laughed as much as I did on that flight.
My husband passed away in October and I would like to think the two of them are now having some great laughs in heaven.
My deepest sympathies but rest assured Alastair is making someone laugh today

To the Collis family:
Please accept my sincere Condolences on the passing of Mr. Alastair Collis. Although I didn't know Mr. Collis personally, I had the privilege of getting to know him through his work. Personally, I had purchased my first electric organ from him some years ago. However having been an organist at our church (Victoria United Church) for some time now, I got to know him professionally from his visits for tuning at church and my home. Such a Wonderful and pleasant gentleman and so very knowledgable. I was always amazed by how good his memory was. When I called for a tuning, I only had to mention the church and he could tell me exactly which organ we had. During his visits, we always enjoyed a good chat and I got to enjoy his beautiful music. Thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. Extending deepest sympathy to you all. Go rest high on that mountain Mr. Collis.

My heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Collis, to Anna, and to Laura. Alastair was a dear friend to me over the years. We shared many stories, and enjoyed each others company at the piano - many times with him playing and me singing. Whenever I came home to Newfoundland, I would make a stop on Topsail Rd. to visit, and he always made me feel welcome. He will be missed immeasurably, as I too, grieve his passing, more than words can say.

I purchased my first and second piano from Alastair for my son. Alastair has been at my home in Gander many times tuning the piano. He would patiently tune and correct each and every key and once done would play a number of tunes. He talked to my son about the music industry and always gave sound advice and cautions. I have a copy of a print he had commissioned a number of years ago - it’s a miniature of a piano. A “bigger than life” character. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.

The Collis Family:
My parents knew Alastair's parents very well, having grown up in Harbour Grace, and being members of St. Paul's Church.
I remember being in church, at St. Paul's, one Sunday, many years ago, and the organ was being played by long time organist, Frank Sheppard. At some point the organ started acting up. With that, Mr. Collis, Alastair's father, went up to the organ and went behind the curtain where the workings of the organ were located. Sounds came from behind the curtain, and a few minutes later Mr. Collis emerged. The organ was fixed and the music resumed.
I tell this story because I'm sure Alastair would find it amusing, and I know he liked to tell stories, himself.
Please accept my sincere condolences.

To the Collis family, even though I do not know you personally my two uncles (George and Harvey Pynn) worked with Mr. Leslie Collis in Harbour Grace and as a child I had many visits to the store. My two uncles always spoke very highly of Mr. L Collis.
Every time I visit Harbour Grace I have so many fond memories of the shop and your home.
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of a dear son and father.
Keep your memories of him in your hearts and he will always be with you.✝️✝️
