Obituary of Peggy Janes

It is with great sadness that we the family of the late Peggy Janes announce her sudden passing on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Predeceased by husband: George W Jr.; parents: Rita and Cyril St. George; sister: Ann Marie (Ed) St. George; parents-in-law: George W. and Drucilla; brothers-in-law: Ambrose, Clarence (Evelyn), John, Leo, and David; sisters-in-law: Phyllis (John) Cornish and Hilda (Bert) Power. Peggy leaves to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories, her daughters: Diane (Stephen) Barrett and Beverley (David) Baird, both of Carbonear; son: Eddie (Terry), Nepean, ON; sister: Genevieve St. George, Carbonear; grandchildren: Alexis (Josh), Robert (Kaitlyn), Maxwell, and Devon; step-grandson: Nick; great-grandchildren: Jayden, Brock, and Blaire; sisters-in-law: Phyllis, Carbonear, Iris, Truro, NS, and Debbie, St. John’s; special friends: Anita Power, Mary Tobin, and Beverley Thomas; also a large number of nephews, nieces, and friends. Peggy was a devoted worker at Carbonear General Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Carbonear Fire Dept. for over 25 years. She volunteered many hours with meals on wheels, the gift shop at Carbonear General Hospital, and many hours with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Peggy was the center of her family’s world. She would love for you to drop in for a cup of tea and a slice of her famous molasses and raisin bread. Nothing gave her more pleasure than to plan a family supper which included over 50 people. Visitation at Noel’s Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Tuesday, July 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Interment in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Peggy Janes Memorial Fund c/o Noel’s Funeral Homes Ltd., 106 Water Street, Carbonear, A1Y 1A9.
