Obituary of Leah V. Crummey

Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness that required years of care at home and eight months at long term care homes in St. Lawrence and Carbonear, on Monday, August 7, 2023, Leah V. Crummey of Victoria, age 84 years. Leah was born to Archibald and Emily Pryor of Bay de Verde on October 18, 1938; a close knit family of two sisters and four brothers. She married Maldwyn Crummey in 1960. They had one son, Dwayne. Leah was a community minded person and volunteered with love and compassion for the needy. She loved family and was often an inspiration to neighbours and friends. Much of her working career was as LPN. Predeceased by parents: Archibald and Emily Pryor; infant son, Gary; brothers: Billy, Clyde; sister: Annie; parents-in-law: Donald and Jessie Crummey. Leaving to mourn, husband: Maldwyn; son: Dwayne (Sharon); two brothers; Roland (Marion) and George (Donna); two sisters: Winnie and Dorothy; also a large number of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at the long term care homes for providing such great care to their loved one. Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay on Wednesday, August 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, August 10 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, August 10, at 2:00 p.m. from McDowell United Church, Western Bay. At the request of the family, interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Southside United Church Cemetery, P. O. Box 75, Western Bay, NL, A0A 4J0.
