Hello family yet again we are gathered together for yet another family member that has passed on !
It’s like it is the only real time we get together !!
Hayward was the last son of aunt Mary Ann and her baby! He was an uncle to Cindy and Misty ( Bills Daughters) and to Vikki and David (Ron’s daughter and son)
He was cousin to many of us , too many to mention here but we all know that already !
Aunt Mary Ann would do everything in her power for Hayward! I remember one story that dad told me , that aunt Mary Ann would serve him breakfast in bed at times !! He was after all her baby !
As a young boy, when aunt Mary Ann had tuberculosis and had to stay at the sanatorium, Hayward spent some time in the orphanage in St Johns
I think that was the one and only time in his life he actually wore a suit !
Hayward lived all of his life simply !
Whenever you walk in the door of aunt Mary Ann’s house, you would find him in his rocker smoke in hand
And a bottle of Pepsi next to him , either reading a book or watching a western or some older show on tv!
I spent most of my childhood with Aunt Mary Ann and Hayward , it’s where I would escape to if me and mudder had it out !
I’d spend many nights playing cribbage or boggle with Hayward.
Any guy I was dating I
would introduce to Aunt Mary and Hayward first before my own parents !!!
After aunt Mary Ann passed away, he stayed in the house on his own, but he had many visitors, and one in particular became like a son to him!
Shannon Verge, Shannon took Hayward into his own home after the house burned down and treated him and cared for him just like family
Shannon I want to thank you for doing that!
They say kindness returns to those who offer it, and in Hayward’s case it did because aunt Mary Ann and Hayward helped your family on more than one occasion!
Family is more then blood relation it’s friends who become like family too!
And Shannon you became like family to Hayward !
You took him in and he became a surrogate father to you and grandfather to your children , who I am told he adored as he’s own !
Again thank you Shannon !
Now the time has come to say Goodbye yet again and for the final time Hayward !
You lived your life on your terms and your terms only !
Go cross the bridge and find your family in the great beyond !
I’m sure there’s a bottle of Pepsi and smokes next to a chair waiting for you !
