Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, Ethel May Deering of Freshwater, Carbonear, age 97 years. Predeceased by husband: Henry C.; grandson: Scott; great-grandson: Jordan; parents: George and Julianne Parsons; sisters: Sarah and Nellie; brothers: Baby Gilbert, James and Leonard. Leaving to mourn, six daughters: Melvina Rose (John-deceased) and friend Charles, Glennis (Wally) Kotaba, Gloria (William) Slade, Beverley (Bruce) Case, Paula (Garfield) Parsons, and Wanda (Paul) Somers; four sons: Wayne (Florence), William (Ruby), Barry (Joy), and Austin (Donna); her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild, who she always called her babies, and who were the sunshine of her life; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A big thank you to Lanes Retirement Home, Dr. Howse and all the staff of the 7th Floor at Carbonear General Hospital. Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Thursday, December 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, December 8 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Friday, December 8 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Carbonear. Interment in the United Church Cemetery, Freshwater, Carbonear. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
