Obituary of Florence Reynolds

Please share a memory of Florence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that the family of Florence Reynolds, Harbour Grace, announces her peaceful passing, on December 2, 2024, at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear, at the age of 94. There is never enough time, but the family takes comfort in knowing that Florence is now reunited with the love of her life, Rev William (Bill) Reynolds, her husband of 60 years, whose memory she cherished deeply. Born in Carbonear, Florence's life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, and dedication. She married a kind-hearted man from Salmon Cove, and together they built a life filled with love, devotion, and shared purpose. A teacher in her early married years, Florence later became a pillar of her community through her tireless volunteer work with the United Church Women (UCW), the Women’s Institute (WI), Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT) as well as being a devoted knitter for NONIA (Newfoundland Outport Nursing Association). She was also instrumental in forming the Bonavista area Figure Skating Club. Florence’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she devoted herself to supporting United Church congregations in Petites, NL; River Hebert, N.S, Newtown, NL, and finally settling in Catalina, NL, where she continued to serve her church and community with grace and unwavering commitment for more than 20 years. She will be remembered for her incredible baking, meticulous quilting, and masterful knitting, which brought joy and warmth to so many. Florence had a quiet strength and a giving heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Florence is deeply missed by her daughter, Gail (Melvin); granddaughter, Allison (Sean); and grandson, Mitchel (Karen). She also leaves behind countless friends and extended family who were touched by her generosity and kind spirit. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the team of 3 North at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear, for their dedicated care and support. Visitation will take place at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Thursday, December 5, from 10:30 to 12:00 p.m., 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A celebration of Florence’s remarkable life will be held at Coughlan United Church, Harbour Grace, on Friday, December 6, at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Coughlan United Church, P.O Box 209, Harbour Grace, NL, A0A 2M0. Though deeply missed, Florence’s light will forever shine in the hearts of those she loved. May she rest in eternal peace. "Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure; she is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure."
