Blair, Rodney, Emma, extended family and friends; Words cannot express our deepest sympathies during this very difficult time. As I am not much of a writer of scripts, nor am I a religious man by any extent, I understand what you are going through, and the following few paragraphs is my best effort in expressing my feelings, memories, and sincere condolences. As most people know, with Blair as a very close best friend since childhood, I grew up with the Clarke family, and I think of them as just that “Family”. I remember countless days and nights at their house, whether it was a sleepover when we were kids, or playing cards (Queens) as teenagers at the living room table. I remember on many occasions walking in from the porch and seeing Lionel sitting in the living room watching the news, where he would always say “Come in by’, Blair will down in a minute”, where we sit and chat for a bit. I always enjoyed those chats, and being Lionel, he always told you the way it was and how he sees it, no holds barred. Sometimes he would have us in tears laughing, telling stories like the time he had to throw the firey pot of cooking oil out the front door into the snow bank. Sometime it was the story but more of the way he told it and that was as they say her in Ontario, “Truly Awesome”. That is how I remember Lionel, a genuinely honest and sincere man. As we grow through, life I believe we pick up many of our traits from our closed family and friends, making up who we are today. I know I have many of my fathers traits, and am reminded of that all the time, the one trait I could not pin on anyone in particular until now is my love for vehicles, and as most know, I am somewhat an addict. Looking back I remember Lionel in a similar way, spending countless hours in the front yard, cleaning and polishing his ride, and always thinking about his next purchase. Lionel was like the Dale Earnhardt of Carbonear, driving back and forth from St. Johns for work every day, and probably breaking his personal best almost every time. Most people will say Lionel has made his journey to heaven, one thing I can say for sure, he probably passed a dozen on the way. Lionel is survived by a very strong family, and I wish all the best as you begin the healing process. Remember all the good times and talk about them often, because those memories are the most important. Wish we could be there in this time of need. Sincerely Trevor Davis & Judy Murphy-Davis] Sioux Lookout, Ontario.
