WHALEN, Gerald M. - Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Senior Citizen's Home, Clarke's Beach on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, Gerald M. Whalen of Western Bay, age 70 years. Predeceased by wife: Shirley; parents: Douglas and Carrie. Leaving to mourn, one daughter: Kelly (Darren) Sheppard, Carbonear; one son: Brad, Western Bay; one grandson: Lucas; three brothers: Wayne (Violet) and Dexter (Phyllis), both of Western Bay and Jeff (Grace), Pasadena; two sisters: Dona Whalen, Dartmouth, NS and Janice Penney, Musgravetown; brothers-in-law: Jim (Margaret) Halfyard, Kilbride, Roy (Anne) Halfyard and Johnny (Lucia) Halfyard, both of Ochre Pit Cove; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay on Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Friday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Western Bay. Interment in the United Cemetery, Ochre Pit Cove. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
