SPARKES, John C. - Passed peacefully away at the Interfaith Citizen's Home, Carbonear on Friday, March 28, 2014, John C. Sparkes of Lower Island Cove, age 77 years. Predeceased by wife: Jean Shirley, father: Philip, parents-in-law: William and Jane Begg and brother-in-law: John. Leaving to mourn, daughter: Linda Delaney, Alberta; three sons: Wayne (Tracy), New Glasgow, NS, Terry (Deanna) and Paul, both of Lower Island Cove; six grandchildren: Michael, Colleen (Ben), Shylo, Philip, Julian and Megan; five great-grandchildren; mother: Sarah, Lower Island Cove; brother: Melvin (Gladys) Sparkes, Lower Island Cove; sister: Bertha Sparkes, Lower Island Cove; sister-in-law: Joyce (Gil) Archer, Ontario; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at the Salvation Army Citadel, Lower Island Cove on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday, April 1 at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Lower Island Cove. Interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Lower Island Cove. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the John C. Sparkes Memorial Fund c/o Noel's Funeral Home, 106 Water Street, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1A9.
