To My Dear Friend Frank! Frank I was so saddened by your sudden passing! It was only a few weeks ago that we visited you and Voilet! You told us you were sick this past winter but was so shocked when we got the news of your passing! Frank I'm so glad I had a visit with you when you were in hospital! I have to say Frank since I met you 40 years ago in Long Hr when you and my father fished side by side you became a very great friend and someone that I looked up to and respected with great admiration! Frank you were always a High-Liner where ever you went! You landed more fish in one season than most fishermen landed in all their seasons, I always listened intently to your wonderful stories of the sea! One sticks out especially, you were a young man in your 20s and Skipper Guy Earle asked you to go to P.E.I.to pick up 300 sacks of potatoes turnip and carrot! You done all this without a hitch! It was a big vessel and I,m sure your Dear Wife Voilet and Capt Guy were proud of you! You had a trip or 2 to Long Hr You and Your Nephew Guy! I remember one day we couldn't find our trawls in the fog! We laughed about it but when the fog cleared we got enough winter fish for us all! It was such an honor to have you in my boat as you had so much experience and always showed me things that even today when I make a certain knot or use the gobb stick to get the hook from the fishes stomach,I would say My Dear Old Carbonear Buddy Frank showed me that! one!.Frank I could talk for hours of all the good deeds that you done for me and all the forecaste yarns we shared through the years! Frank you will be sadly missed and always rembered by all who knew and loved you, Especially your Dear Wife Voilet! Just a few words of a little recitation that I used to recite for you! "I left school at eleven to fish in the dories with men and that was the way that I,d spend my day, from 5 every morning till 10, tired and sore I,d be every morn wet and cold I'd stay till day's end,but we toiled to feed our families Yes we were "The Hardest Of Men." Frank friends like you were hard to find, harder to lose and impossible to forget! When you get to the Pearly Gates Skipper Frank I,m sure My Father Skipper George Murphy will be waiting to have a Forcastle Yarn with you! May You Rest In Peace With The Angels Above My Dear Friend! Sadly Missed And Always Remembered! Skipper Roy Murphy.
