No more upon a churning sea Will the Captian ride No need for chart or compass And calm the roaming tide. Anchors away it be Life's sea no more to ride Look a sheltered harbour And the Captian safe inside. Safely moored is his vessel No more rough seas to roam Shipping season is over Captian Rogers is gone home If heaven would allow it And hogs were allowed in side You would find the Captian grinning As he takes his for a ride. With wave of hand toward you And little left to say He would ride the golden pavement Forever on a endless day

It is with undescribable shock and sadness that i write this today. My last visit with my Uncle Paul was a sad one. Just Six months ago i was sitting beside him holding my mothers hand as she passed away. I was so glad Paul was there, a memory that will stay with me forever. We all spent Christmas together and Im so grateful Paul and Kay were there. they helped us get through that sad time more than they will ever know. I guess we helped each other. We talked about Amie and i coming for a visit this summer and maybe doing some fishing and four wheeling. Its been way too long since i've been home for a visit and was looking forward to seeing everyone. i have very fond memories of my uncle growing up and as an adult, he was one of those people who you wanted to be around and i always looked up to the Captain. Amie and i are so sorry we can't be there now. my thoughts and prayers are with you Kay,Chris, PJ, and families.

Please accept our deepest sympathies from myself, Chuck Ash, and all the people in Black Tickle, Labrador. Paul was well liked by all who had the pleasure to sail with him on the Northern Ranger. His white beard and long flowing locks made him easily recongizable when he docked in Black Tickle. No matter how nasty the weather, Paul always made a stop here. He wanted the people on this island to have supplies and transportation each and every Saturday night. People would ask when the weaqther was bad,," who's the Captain tonight"? "Capt. Rodgers they would say. She'll be here for sure then, he's the best." How many times have I heard people on the coast say, " he's such a nice man, sure he's just like us, he comes and talks to everyone."
Paul I will miss all our visits when you sailed into Black Tickle and feel very sad every time the Northern Ranger arrives without you at the helm.
RIP Friend.

I don't believe there is a person who came in contact with him that could say a negative word about him. He will be greatly missed and thought of with the utmost of respect. My sincere condolences to you Kay, Chris and PJ and your families. It was a great shock to get this terrible news last night. We always loved Paul and I know Sophie especially felt very close to him. We are all very sad at this time. We very much appreciated your presence last December and will be pleased to be with you over the next few days. Take care of each other.

The world has lost another great Person. I had the wonderful pleasure to work with Captain Rodgers when we worked with Marine Atlantic. Last Summer I meet him once again while working on the Northern Ranger. It was so nice to sit and talk to him about our years with Marine Atlantic. We both shared so many memories. He enjoyed his job and loved all his crew. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. RIP My Friend
