SPARKES, Sarah - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, November 2, 2014, Sarah Sparkes of Lower Island Cove, age 95 years. Predeceased by husband: Philip B. (deceased, 2000); son: John C.; daughter-in-law: Shirley; son-in-law: John L.; brothers: George and Joseph Puddester; sisters: Mildred and Selena; parents: Joseph and Mary Ann (Reid). Leaving to mourn one daughter: Bertha Sparkes, Lower Island Cove; one son: Melvin (Gladys), Lower Island Cove; eight grandchildren: Linda, Wayne (Tracy), Terry (Deanna), Paul, Bruce (Wendy), Pauline (Tony), Harvey (Jennifer) and Sylvia; fourteen great-grandchildren: Michael (Nicole), Colleen (Ben), Shylo, Philip, Julian, Megan, Crystal, Tracey (Jason), Adam, Melinda (Gary), Miranda, Najaula, Logan and Liam; seven: great-great-grandchildren: Mia, Sarahann, Abigail, Elizabeth, Hastings, Bailey and Jenna; special friend of 65 years, Fannie Fagner, also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Salvation Army Citadel, Lower Island Cove on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Lower Island Cove. Interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Lower Island Cove. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Salvation Army Citadel, Lower Island Cove.
