Your Mom was an amazing lady! I have so many wonderful memories of the time I spent with your Mom... she was the greatest cook with a delightful sense of humour and incredible love for her family. I was very sad to learn of Bride's passing. Treasure the wonderful memories. Everytime I hear Coat of Many Colours I picture your Mom singing it in the living room 'round the bay! Lots of love

To the Gushue Family: We were so saddened to hear of Bride's passing. We have wonderful memories of our times together in Northern Bay. Brian has fond memories of strolling across the road and following his nose to Bride's kitchen where there was sure to be something delicious in the oven. Bride and Pat were frequent visitors to the Mullaly house on Howley Avenue Extension and many a Christmas was celebrated there with Bride leading the Christmas carols. May your own memories give you strength and comfort during this time. We wish we could be there to support you in person but know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Brian, Judy & Kristina Mullaly

Nanny, I will miss you more than anyone can imagine. I'm sorry I can't be there at your funeral, but you are in my thoughts, and I will speak to you in Heaven, as I do Poppy now. I promise to incorporate all that you have taught me into my daily life, and I will keep making the best raisin bread of the land to share with my friends and family as you did. I love you, and may you rest in peace with Poppy.

Dear Gushue/mullaly family, I am deeply saddened by the loss of your mom, my aunt bride-I tried to have a visit/music session with her this past summer/08-she was in hospital. Aunt Bride was the glue that pasted all the memories of my childhood of northern bay,she "wore the pants"she cooked the meals, she sang the song, she danced the jigg and her smile warmed the room she was in. So, of course a person as warm and fun loving as she was will be missed,"Please God" welcome her in your arms. John/kathy mullaly

Dear Children of Patrick and Bridget(Bride) Gushue, We are terribly sorry to hear of your dear mother's passing, and we wish to express to you all our deepest sympathies. Your mom and dad were quite remarkable people. They were a great team exemplifying the very best in traditional Newfoundland warmth and hospitality. Elizabeth and I will never forget our visits with them in St. John's and Northern Bay where they could not have done more to make us feel welcome, and their ability to prepare a spendid feast of food together was quite beyond compare. We will never forget our happy visits with them. Both your mom and dad were called home to God before their time, but who are we to question his wisdom? Your mom, as was your dad, a loving and caring parent, worthy of the very best in the Newfoundland tradition. We hope God's love and Peace will see you all throughout this very difficult time. With our Prayers and Love, Harvey, Elizabeth, Peter and Sarah

To the Gushue and Mullaly Families: Sorry to hear of Bride's Passing. The Mullay Family has been friends of the Tucker family for many years. John and I are friends of Bern Nora and Leo. We visit them quite often in Florida and in Northern Bay. Whenever we went to Northern Bay Bride would always come to Bern's to say hello. She was a very good friend of my sisters Ruth and Flora many years ago. So Bride and I would reminise often. She was a wonderful person and fun to be with. Our prayers are with both families. May God bless you all.

Dear Friends, It is with a saddened heart and deep regret that I inform you of the passing of my beloved mother-in-law, Bride Gushue, who passed peacefully away last evening in hospital in St John’s, Newfoundland. Present her bedside at that time were her four children- Patrick, Diane, Denise and Joe. Her other two children, (Debbie and Colleen) who were not physically present were both there in supportive thoughts, prayer and frequent conversations with her hospital room. As you know, both Debbie and I loved her very much and we’ll greatly miss her persona, passion for life, guidance and comfort that she shared with our family and the other families, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of both the Mullaly and Gushue families. Debbie and I will always fondly and lovingly cherish the memories of her visits to our home not only here in Texas but as well for all the love, blessings and support she bestowed upon on in our previous homes in Canada, North Carolina and Florida. She meant the world to us. Although we were aware of her serious condition, it nevertheless leaves you with a numbing feeling of shock, despair and emptiness when the actual moment arrives. Though these feelings are temporal for now, we also are now beginning to understand the joy and gladness she must now be experiencing, being free from the infliction of illness and being welcomed into The Family of Faithful Souls in Christ and the eternal comfort, grace and love of God. We want to thank all of you who have had an opportunity to know her and make her feel welcome either into your homes or ours, wherever that may have been along the Whalen Family’s life journey either here in the U.S. or during the earlier days in Canada. As a son-in-law, I can honestly say how fortunate I was to know and love a woman of such warmth, content and character. Our children Jerry, Melissa and Amanda will deeply miss her too. We may mourn today but tomorrow there will be joy and laughter again in just knowing how she brightened our lives. Debbie and I would like to personally thank-you for your prayers and support over these past days of uncertainty and anxiety. Please remember Bride when you can and smile when you think of her- a true Newfie with a heart of Gold. May God Bless you all this Thanksgiving and be sure to tell all your family members seated around your table this time next week just how much you love them and how much you appreciate them and what they mean to you in your life. Thank-you for being there The Whalen Family (John, Debbie, Jerry, Melissa and Amanda)
