Hi Mrs. Snow, Byron and family, I was shocked when my Dad gave me the news of Mr. Snow's passing. Another great spirit has passed. So many good memories flooded back from the years of teaching, occasionally walking with him to my home for lunch and enjoying the smell of his pipe. I was blessed when I was younger to share many school days having Mr. Snow sitting across from me at the dinner table. Enjoying conversations and jokes, whether it was at my expense or my brother or sister. Mr. Snow is considered a part of our family and will be missed by us all; my heartfelt condolences. To a great friend and teacher, Mr. Snow. Greg and Charlotte Blundon & family

Mrs. Snow and Family, It is with deep sadness that I extend my sincere sympathy at the passing of Mr. Snow. I was a student of Mr. Snow's at Holy Trinity Regional High in Heart's Content. He was a teacher who had an impact on every student who was fortunate enough to be taught by him. His quick wit and dry sense of humor made the English curriculum interesting and exciting. There are themes of short stories that I read in Grade 10 that I can still recite, by heart, today..... Thanks to Mr. Snow. Mr.Snow, "The teacher". He taught me in grade 8 at the old United Church School. What a teacher!!! He followed us to Persalvic and taught me again in grade 9. He had a natural talent to teach that does not come from university academic studies, he was born to teach. He wanted his students to do well and involved himself in that process. I remember him coming into the Power House one afternoon, after we had written a final public exam in June, for one of his teaching subjects. He graded my brother's (Harold)and my answers and predicted a "ball park mark", he was right on. Dedication or what!!! I am so glad that on occasions in recent years Harold and I have had the opportunity to pull up in front of his house on the neck road, when he was out tinkering in the yard, and tell him that he was our best teacher and an inspiration to both of us. Rest in Peace Mr. Snow. Eric Priddle Truro, Nova Scotia

My husband and I are deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Snow's passing. We are both former students, having been taught by him at Holy Trinity High School. I remember clearly how he would walk into the class, and everyone would fall silent. If there happened to be a murmur, he would softly say " I think the natives are getting restless." That was all it took for him to get things back to the way he wanted. No shouting, no screaming, just a few softly spoken words. Another of his famous sayings, that I sometimes use on my own students today, goes as follows: "A wise old owl sat on an oak, the more he seen the less he spoke. The less he spoke, the more he heard. Why can't we all be like that bird?" Mr Snow did more than teach kids, he treated then with respect and dignity, and in turn got it back. He will never be forgotten by those of us whose lives he touched. I have thought him many time since hearing of his passing, and each time I do, I think of another little saying, or a classroom memory that makes me smile. I hope doing the same, drawing on your own special memories, will help each of you through this difficult time. With deepest sympathies, Darlene Hiscock Ottawa, Ontario
