BENNETT, George Freeman - Passed peacefully away in the presence of loved ones at the Caribou Veteran's Pavilion, St John's on Thursday, November 27, 2008, George Freeman Bennett formerly of Blackhead, Conception Bay, age 91 years. Free was a proud member of the Newfoundland 59th [Heavy] Regiment during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife Ella [Hudson], his parents William and Minnie [Moores] Bennett, brothers Frank and Bert, sisters Annie, Grace, and Betty. Free was a kind, gentle and patient man who will be fondly remembered by his brother Ross and family, sister- in law Josephine Hudson, and his many nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and Labrador, other parts of Canada and the United States. He was a very special uncle to Rosalyn Hudson and family of St. John's. Resting at NOEL'S FUNERAL HOME, MAIN HIGHWAY, WESTERN BAY on Saturday, November 29, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Sunday, November 30 from 11 a.m.-12 noon. Funeral service to take place on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from Ocean View United Church, Broad Cove. Interment in the United Cemetery, Blackhead. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations in Free's memory may be made to the Blackhead United Church Cemetery Fund or the Royal Canadian Legion, Carbonear Branch.
