Please accept our deepest regrets in the loss of Jack. I (Gwen) worked with Jack at Newfoundland Power. Actually I arranged a lot of the details for his retirement there including the horse & buggy ride. He was an honourable man & I was very fond of him. His integrity was second-to-none---a legacy the whole family can be proud of. God bless you all. Please accept our deepest regrets. Gwen & Wayne Clarke Red Deer, AB

To The Dunphy Family, We were shocked and saddened to learn of Mr.Dunphy's passing and hope you will accept our sincere condolences. We often spoke with Mr. Dunphy and his friend Mr.Mullins (Joe) at Tim Horton's ,he always had a smile and hello for us,we always found him to be a very pleasent man.Shortly after Mr.Mullin's passed ,he was sitting alone having a coffee, and I stopped by his table and sat with him a few minutes,When I mentioned that he must miss his friend,he smiled ,nodded his head saying,"Yes,it's hard when you watch all your friends pass on.You miss them ,you know, but I'm up there in years now too."He then went on to tell me how old he was,and again smiled when I told him how good he looked and that he certainly didn't look his age. A true gentleman,in every sence of the word! Not to mention a man to be grateful to as well, for his service in WW11. We feel honoured to have know him,may he rest in peace,be joyful in his reunion with his friends and family members, and may God blees you ,his family.

Dan and Family Sorry to hear of the passing of your father. We have very fond memories of him, during our time spent at the Legion. Br 23. which is a place that he cared so much about. He was always ready to give a helping hand where needed and ever ready have a friendly chat or heated discussion about any topic that may arise especially the matters of the branch. He was a true icon and testiment to the generation of people that fought for and built this great country of ours. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. Distance keeps us apart at this but our prayers and thoughts are with you and our family in this time a sorrow. Scott & Doreen Noel Burton, NB

To: Dan, Tom, Brian, John and Eileen I'm sorry I am unable to be at home for your father's funeral. As you may know I'm here in Kanata spending a few days with Liam, Julie and the wee baby, Sophia. Having recently lost my own mother, I can only begin to imagine the emotions you are going through at this time. My very first recollection of your father was of him coming to the house to read our meter. He would always come in for a chat with Dad and Mom. Mr. Dunphy was a co-worker of both my late father and Uncle Ned, who also worked for the United Towns Electric Company. As school mates at St. Patrick's Hall (school) and brethren in the Knight's of Columbus (1960s), they remained lifelong friends. Both my late father and Uncle Ned always spoke highly of your father. I'm sure they enjoyed many a jar and yarn at the Knights of Columbus in those days. Jack Dunphy was always a gentleman, "in the true sense of the word," as Msgr. Peddle would say. He fought his final battle with the same bravery that took him overseas so many years ago, to fight another battle that has allowed our generation to live our own lives in peace. For that we should all be eternally grateful. His contributions to his country and later to his community through such organizations as the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, R.C. School Board and Knights of Columbus will not be forgotten. Sophia Bowman arrived on March 21, just nine days before my mother passed away March 30. Now with the passing of your father, Sophia remains a constant reminder that life goes on. In this your time of sorrow, please accept my sincere condolences. "At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember" him. Bill and Brenda Bowman
