Dear Mildred, Barry, Sylvia & Family I was saddened to learn of Clayton's passing this week and my thoughts are with you at this time. Clayton was my high school teacher and I cherish many memories of the old school house in Freshwater. He was a dedicated teacher, skillfully managing a classroom of five grades, a diverse group of robust teens, all sharing desks around an old pot-belly stove. He knew how to multi-task even before the word was invented, slipping easily from grade 7 English to grade 10 French verb conjugations, on to grade 11 algebra formulas and then back to grade 9 geometry. We all tested his patience from time to time. But he was in control, firm but always fair. I think English Literature was his favourite subject. One of my favorites, and his.....Alfred Lord Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar". He loved to recite it and the words resonate with me even to this day. "Sunset and evening Star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea..........I hope to meet my Pilot fact to face, When I have crossed the bar". I join with many others in honoring this man, your husband and dad, whose life has touched me and many others. His influence lives on and for this I believe we can truly celebrate.

Dear Mrs Peach, Barry, Sylvia and family, I am very sorry to hear of Mr Peach's passing. He was an all-round nice person. I have fond memories of him...first as a neighbour ( I am smiling as I recall him singing "God Bless America" while he mowed the lawn !) and, secondly, as my Grade Six teacher at Davis Elementary in the mid-70s. Back then, we began the school day with a short Bible reading followed by the Lord's Prayer. He seemed to admire Psalm 27 because he read from it often..."The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?..." It is one Psalm I probably won't forget! Take care, Elizabeth

My deepest condolences go out to the Peach family at this most difficult time. Mr. Peach was always enthused about knowing how his students ended up and whatever became of their family members. I sat with him our our Class Reunion in 2005 and he spoke so lovingly of all who had passed through his classes - he could remember every one it seemed. May the memories of the good times spent with him carry his essence into our very souls; and after such a long, full life, May He Rest in Peace. Jim Davis Stephenville
