Sally & Colin So saddened to hear of Mrs. T's passing. She was a wonderful warm, kind, thoughtful lady who will forever remain with us through all our fond memories. Your Mom was so welcoming to me when I moved in next door, we had many a chats over the fence. She always had a kind word and a loving smile each time we met. A true joy! I think of her Cheese Straws & Salmon loaf, boy were they delicious. There was a real battle to get some every time she would bless us by sharing. I'm sure today, your Mom & Mrs. Fitz are together under God's watchful eye sharing tea and exchanging recipes. We will keep you in our prayers as you go through this difficult time. God Bless!

Hello Sally and Colin, It was with great sadness that I read of your Mother's recent passing. I know she was in failing health but she was always so serene and terribly appropriate while being so friendly and enjoyable. She was a marvellous lady in every sense of the word and it was a pleasure to be among her circle of friends and associates. She was also so very fortunate to have such caring family as you both - and she knew it and was also very grateful for your care to her. Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of a beautiful lady - my thoughts go with you.

I first met my aunt Thelma in Toronto, when she and Hal visited our family. She gave giant hugs, and I think a quarter to each of us. Many years later my son Isaac Peter, 7 or 8, was living in St John's. We spent one wonderful Thanksgiving in Harbour Grace. I remember him giggling with Thelma over a cake bought for my birthday. He and Sally slipped out the kitchen to buy another because Isaac Peter had just told Thelma I couldn't eat chocolate. Thelma's grace, kindness, generosity, love abounding didn't need big reasons, a large stage, or people watching. These spilled out of her.... these were her. Hers was, indeed, a life well lived

Sally Rex and I were saddened when we heard that your Mom had passed away. Please accept our sincere condolences. She was such a lady and always so welcomming when we went to visit. Rex,especially, spent many wonderful afternoons at your home with your Mom and Dad, Rex and your Dad enjoying a little drink and having a lively discussion while your Mom was the gracious hostess! Often, we went as a family when our kids were little and your Mom always had the most delicious cookies for us. When your Dad passed away your Mom and I would have great chats as I walked by in the mornings. I will never forget her smile. She was never without it. When she moved to St.John's with you and Colin I would hear about her from Jane. Sally, you were the light of her life and she loved both you and Colin dearly. Hr.Grace was blessed to have the Trainor family living here. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless Rex and Cathy

Sally... I remember my mom (Mary Peddle) selling Avon to you and your mom and always speaking kindly of you both. In looking at your mom's picture, it brings back memories of my many walks past your house in Harbour Grace and seeing her in the garden. I remember her beautiful peonies that bloomed way ahead of mine! Being an only child myself, I know you've just lost your oldest, dearest, "bestest" friend. My mom has passed away too (12 years now) and I still miss her terribly. Cherish your memories. Barbara (Peddle) Meadus

To Sally and Colin: So sorry to hear of your mother's passing, I call her mother to both because I know that Colin called her Mum and looked upon her as his own mother. Both Albert and I send you our deepest sympathy and our thoughts and prayers will be with you during this time of grieving. Sally I only met your mother once (a beautiful lady)and you, being her daughter, I can see where the elegance and kindness came from. I know too that she must have been a great listener and a great comforter because that was what you were to me and I'm sure you got it from your mother. Will talk next week when I get back home. Take care.

Sally and Colin, Thank you for becoming our family in Newfoundland - Thelma as well as Harold will be in our hearts forever and live on in our memories of Christmases and birthdays celebrated together - some of the quieter times of just sitting and not even needing to talk. We have been together since Monday in our thoughts and on Saturday we will be together not to say good-bye but rather farewell until we meet again. Love Always, Carla and Willy

Sally, We will always remember your mother very fondly. She was a wonderful woman. We will never forget how warmly "Uncle Hal", "Aunt Thelma" and Sally welcomed us when we went to live in Newfoundland as newly weds in 1965. Although we only lived in St. John's two years, we have always felt we had a second home on "the rock". Colin, you have been blessed to have had such a loving mother in law.

Sally, I spoke to my mother today and she gave me the sad news. It was fairly recent that I had tried to find a phone number to call Mrs. Trainor; I wish I had tried a little harder. I believe that I am so very lucky that I got to meet her and more than a few of my reminiscences from home involve her; she holds a special place; she was a pretty special lady. I often think of her whenever I drink Grand Marnier or wear Grey Flannel cologne; two of the things she introduced me to. It still brings a smile to my face when I think of her answering the phone with her special way of saying "Halo" ....it's probably very fitting. It seems so trivial a thing to say, but unfortunately I can't think of anything that would express my true sympathy, other than to say that my sincere condolences go to you and your family. Take Care, Steve
