Viola and Family Les was a kind giving man, his leadership was second to none. His hard work and dedication can be enjoyed by all at Salmon Cove Sands, Trail of the Eagles and the Orchard. He gave ( flowers, hard work, travel, and most important his time/knowledge) and asked for nothing in return. He not only did this for the Association but also when he was on Council. All that had the pleasure of knowing him will never forget him, he left his mark on us all. Thank You Les for being you. You will be greatly missed RIP

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Vi, You and Les have been dear family friends all of my life and friends of my parents for over 55 years. I have many fond memories growing up of the times we spent together and was so happy when my husband and children had the chance to meet you and Les when we were in Newfoundland a few years ago. Les was a caring, giving man with a big heart and always a smile (sometimes a devilish grin). A man with so many talents – I watched him paint and tie flies for fishing; I had the opportunity to sample his wine and enjoyed a tour of his beautiful garden. (I still have Columbine seeds that he gave me and will sure to keep planting them here in Manitoba for years to come.) He was so proud to show us around Salmon Cove Sands and tell us all about what development has been done and what the plans were for the future – his legacy will always live on. He will always be remembered. Love & Deepest Sympathies, Rosemary, Marshall, Laurie & Alanna

Vi, We were deeply saddened to hear that Les had passed. We count ourselves lucky to have known him, and to have spent time in the presence of his good humour and good nature. From Dollard des Ormeaux to St. John's to Halifax, and best of all, to Salmon Cove, you and Les always made us feel welcome in your home. The world has lost a true gentleman and Newfoundland has lost one of its finest sons.

Viola, our hearts are very saddened for the loss of such an intelligent well respected, hard working, soft spoken man. Les was a true inspiration to all who knew him, and his legacy will certainly live on though the beauty of the seeds that he has sewn over the years in your garden, and in the town of Salmon Cove in general. I look at Les as being the father of Salmon Cove, and I am thankful that our paths have crossed! May God Truly Bless you, Viola.

Dear Vi; How shocked and saddened we were to learn of Les' passing! Les was a real gentleman and a true inspiration to me and all Newfoundlanders who worked with him at Royal Bank. Les was also very helpful to us whenever we needed some sage advice over the years. I always enjoyed our little discussions when you and he would visit Elizabeth Avenue not so long ago. Among the characteristics I most admired about Les was his no-nonsense approach to reality. He will be remembered and sorely missed by all who knew him, not only among the RBC community but for his volunteer and community work in Salmon Cove. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Rest in peace, friend.

To my Uncle Les - I am thinking of you today - your big smile, hearty laugh and your beautiful gardens. Also, of the times that you came in to town and took Nan to Sprigdale, over to Aunt Nina's, while you salmon fished. I remember you and Auntie Vi coming in to Nan's for Christmas and the dinner we would have together as a family, even back before Mom passed away and how Nan and Auntie Kay looked forward to you coming in for your dinner's at The Battery. Auntie Vi - I wish we could be there with you now. I was so shocked to hear of Unle Les' passing. I will always have fond memories of him. You are in my heart and my prayers. All our love - Kerry and Jeff

If we could bring you back again, We’d say we treasured you, And that your presence in our lives Meant more than we ever knew. If we could bring you back again, To tell you what we should, You’d know how much we miss you now, And if we could, we would.

Viola & Family Our Hearts are filled with great sadness today as we say good-bye to a great man in your life and ours too. Les and yourself were Ivan's employers's for the past 15 years and during that time Ivan and Les created more then just a employer relationship it went way beyond that, they became friends, buddies and even more Les was like a second father to him. He was a man that Ivan and myself could turn to for anything. Les was a intelligent, knowledgeable and a very respectful man, who shared it with not only Ivan and I, but with our community as President of the Salmon Cove Future Development Association that he put his heart and sole into, which has made our community a better place to live. Viola we are sure that Les will continue to share his knowledge in heaven as he shared it with us. Out hearts well be filled with sadness for years to come and he will be missed by many... Viola please know that we well always be here for you. May God Bless you Les Ivan and Cavell

It is with such great sadness that I greet the news today of Mr. Pottle’s passing. I have so many fond memories from my childhood of Les Pottle, and my Dad (Les Holmes) sharing evenings and stories, dinners, laughs and taunts together with Vi and my Mom (Bette), the best of friends. To know Les Pottle was to know someone with a big heart, sharp mind, great wit, and wonderful sense of humour. I’ve cherished those memories throughout my life. To enjoy the company of great friends is one of life’s greatest gifts. Mrs. Pottle, my heart aches for you today. You and Les are in our thoughts and prayers and we will be with you in spirit as you say good-bye on Tuesday. Our Love and Deepest Sympathies… Craig (&Cathy) Holmes
