Sad to learn that Hugh Henry with his unique sense of humour and live for teaching has passed on to start his reward in heaven with good friends and others who will enjoy his craic
I was a good friend of Harry’s when we taught in Bradford St Joseph’s PS and later in Hopwood Hall Teacher Training College He added his colour and sense of humour to make great memories.
Children and grand children and his partner will have an abundance of good and happy memories of him.
Really sad to learn this. Met him a few times when he came home— God bless.

Agnes & family, I was so shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Harry. I was one of his students when he taught school in Cape Broyle from Grades 5 through 8. Even though I was a very quiet child I seemed to get in a bit of trouble with Mr Keenan for being late coming back to school after lunch. I guess when you are a young teenager you dont always appreciate your teachers. Nevertheless, I grew to have a great deal of respect for Harry as a principal and teacher. I am now a mother of two teenagers myself and I can certainly appreciate what he had to deal with teaching young adults who knew everything. I now work at St Clares and have had the honor of having some wonderful chats with Harry when he passed through the xray department for his various testing. I did not realize he was so ill, he covered it well. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your dear husband father, and grandfather. Sincerely Margaret Rossiter (Lahey)

Our dearest Mary Ann, Agnes & family, We understand what you are going through, because we've experienced the lost of someone very dear in our lives, too. Someday the pain will ease and the memories will bring comfort, although you carry in your heart a heaviness that won't go away, just remember you have the support of those who love and care for you. Also, may you find comfort in knowing that Harry/Dad is in God's care. While we didn't know Harry/Dad as well as we wanted to, but our short experience with him left a lasting impression. He was a man of deep conviction as it relates to his Irish background, a man who stood for justice and fairway for his fellowman, especially for his Irish country men. His moral principals and standards were beyond reproach. Let no one ever doubt that. His love and care for mom and the whole family was quite evident in his life's journey. Waking at his home was so personal and so special to us. To see all family members, friends and VIP's come and go had us realize the sanctity and brevity of life. Harry would have been very pleased to see old friends meet and embrace - cry and laugh together. His contribution of a committed teacher, father and friend is just outstanding and that was reflected on the faces of those who came. No matter how old we are, losing a husband, father, grandfather and friend is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But his goodness, his caring, and his wisdom lives on-- like a legacy of love that will always be with you. His love forever lives in your heart, long after his presence is gone on. May his memory surround you now and bring you peace. We share your grief and pain, because we've been there, too. With kindest thoughts and deepest sympathy, All our Love, Diana & Frank Hounsell (Paul's Mom & Dad)

Agnes & family. May your many wonderful memories and the love and support of family and friends comfort you . My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Here is a poem that gave me great comfort when my dad passed away. Maybe it will help you as well. Heaven Holds the Key How do you prepare yourself to let a loved one go To lift their spirit up to God when we still need them so. The hardest part of letting go is selfish some may say, For heaven holds the key to life, Your loved one's home to stay. J. Lemming.

To: Agnes and family, Harry and I did a few courses together at MUN in 1971. I admired his helpful manner and his winning smile. Every time, I met him after, he told me I was getting fat.But so waas he. I taught at Trepassey, while he was in Cape Broyle so we met at many workshops. I always admired him and he always showed me kindness and respect. I was sorry to hear of his passing, as he seems so young! I hope your memories of the good times will help you in the days ahead!! An Irish Funeral Prayer Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Everything remains as it was. The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no sorrow in your tone. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again. Source: derived from a sermon written by Henry Scott Holland and delivered in St. Paul's (London) on 15 May 1910, at which time the body of King Edward VII was lying in state at Westminster. Although not originally derived from Irish writings, versions of this sermon have been used at many Irish and Catholic funerals over the years.

Good morning Agnes & family. It is with great sadness that I write this little note, although we have not been in touch over the past 15 years, you have been in my thoughts many times, wondering how Harry was enjoying retirement, how the family was doing, what you were doing. Little did I know that Harry was having a difficult time with his health, a man who never missed a day at school because of ill health. I am so sorry and please accept that my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time. Agnes take strength from your family, they are Harry's most treasured possessions - his sons & daughters and I am sure now, his little grandchild. May God Bless You All. With loving wishes, Helen Duff from Holy Family School, Paradise

Dear Agnes and family, I just returned home from Cuba and checked an e-mail from Carol Medd of St. John's. I was very saddened to hear of Harry's passing. Please accept my prayers for him and you Agnes and your family. I am ever so sorry and wish I could have been there. I have so many good memories of him over the past forty years. He was a wonderful guy and I will miss him immensely. He was like a brother as so many others also thought - although he always said he was brighter than me and he was probably true. Even my son Kyle thought we were two of a similar kind. If you need anything Agnes, do not hesitate to call on me. I am here for you and your family. Phone 807-475-7389 in Thunder Bay or e-mail me at peter_iwanonkiv@yahoo.ca. God bless to you all and may your sadness be turned to happiness as you review Harry's great life of fun and happiness with a few drinks included. All the best, friend forever, Peter and late wife Betty
