Obituary of Peter James Brodie Murray

MURRAY, Peter James Brodie - born August 9, 1928, in Kauntan, Malaysia, passed away peacefully at Eagle Ridge Hospital, Coquitlam, BC, on April 8, 2006, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. He grew up in Inverness, Scotland, and graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Doctorate of Medicine in 1952. He moved his young family to Newfoundland in 1963, and set up practice as a General Surgeon at Carbonear General Hospital where he served the people of the Carbonear area until his retirement in 1998. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Celia in 1998. Dearly loved by his five children; Rosemary, New York; Donald, Vancouver, BC; Nick (Beth), Coquitlam BC; Julia (Roger) Ward, Moncton, NB; and Catriona (Philip) Landsky, Coquitlam, BC. His smile lives on in his beautiful grandchildren Caroline, Alexandra, Jane and Cameron. He faced every challenge in his life with strength and determination, including the disease that took his life. He is now at peace with his loving wife and will forever remain in our hearts. His integrity and kindness guided him through his life, this garnered respect from his peers and loving admiration from his family and many wonderful friends. His devotion to his family and all of his patients in the Trinity Conception area will be his legacy. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Trinity Conception Placentia Health Foundation or the Carbonear Public Library.
