Obituary of Richard 'Dick' Power

Passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, July 4, 2016, Richard 'Dick' Power of Harbour Grace, age 75 years. Dick was a long time resident of Harbour Grace working as the manager of the S.W. Moores Memorial Stadium. He will be remembered for his dedication as a hockey player, coach, and builder for all levels of NL Hockey, and his membership in the NL Sports Hall of Fame. Dick also proudly served with the Harbour Grace Volunteer Fire Dept., and the Knights of Columbus. Predeceased by, parents: William and Lillian; brother: Jim; sister: Margaret Normore. Leaving to mourn, his loving wife of 50 years: Elizabeth; two daughters: Danita Power, and Libbie (Brad) Winslow, both of Harbour Grace; special grandson and truck buddy: Shane; one brother: Bill (Genevieve), Toronto, ON; three sisters: Katherine Kavanagh, Edmonton, AB, Mary (Frank) Bennett, Toronto, ON, and Theresa Power, Bell Island; sisters-in-law: Edna (Fidelis, deceased) Ward, Ottawa, ON, and Ida (Ron, deceased) Locke, Gander; a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at the S.W. Moores Memorial Stadium, Harbour Grace, on Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from where a Celebration of Dick’s life will take place at 4:00 p.m. Inurnment to be held at a later date.
