Wes,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in these days as you grieve the loss of your dear Dad. We were in Alaska and have just returned today to get the news of your father's passing.
Please know that you and your family are brought before the throne of grace in these days. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. Both Grace and I have proven this in the loss of our own fathers and loved ones.
In our devotions with our own family tonight here in Owen Sound we prayed for you and yours.
God bless you in these days!

Wes, Elsie and the Rowe family:
I was sorry to hear of Mr. Rowe's passing. My Dad began taking me to visit Mr. Rowe when I was a baby. We continued visiting him for the next twenty-two years. I especially remember Christmas visits because there was always a Christmas card for me with something tucked inside! Mr. Rowe always showed such interest in everything I was doing, he shared many stories with me and I loved listening to them. As a child, as a teenager and now as a young adult I hold a deep respect for John Rowe, such a kind and gentle man.
I will not be able to attend his funeral, I am at sea, but please know that I will be thinking of you and I will always cherish the wonderful memories I have of Mr. Rowe.
Blessed to have known him,
Adam Sparkes

I wish I could be there with my family right now to help celebrate the life of one extrodanary man- my Grandpa or as he wished to be called by his Grandchildren, Grandy!
He was one of a kind. A gentle man with many wonderful attributes.
Most of my early childhood memories of Grandy are very special.
I especially remember visiting him at work- the smell of lumber ALWAYS brings me back to that lumberyard. And always makes me think of Grandy! :)
I remember listening to him tell stories about his life over lunch, tea and desserts. I could sit there for hours listening to him. Grandy's preserverance built his character. His life difficult at times but always had something positive to say. I've always looked up to him for this.
I also remember how much he loved church and his devotion to his faith. Most of all I remember his kisses and his love for me. Moving from Newfoundland to Ontario when I was a ten was difficult. I missed family and friends but I remember missing Grandy more than anything. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit a few times over the years and Grandy always made sure to make up for lost time. He taught me invaluable life lessons, shared wisdom and even taught me how to drive on one visit! I don't think mom approved of this as I was still quite young haha. But Grandy wanted to make sure that he was the one who taught me to drive. My last visit two years ago was the most meaningful to me as he finally got to met my amazing husband, Brian (who also shares a love for garages, tools and anything to do with wood!) He even shared a nod of approval. God love him. He also met our first born son, Colin. I'm grateful for this! I also must not forget to mention his incredible sense of humour. He sure knew how to make people laugh! Yes, that was my Grandy! What an incredible soul! A soul that will always be loved and never forgotten. I Love you Grandy!

Wishing that I could be there in person to celebrate the life of this wonderful man who I got to call Grandy.
To me Grandy was a man who showed his joy in his smile, his love in his words, and his faith in his actions.
Grandy always made sure that I knew that he loved me and that he was proud of me. He always greeted me with a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek, no matter how old I got. Those hugs were the best kind of hugs, because they were brimming with love.
I will always have fond memories of Grandy... of visiting Garlands with Dad and seeing him at work, of tea and snacks which were always accompanied with great stories and laughs, and of course, all the Christmas chocolates that he insisted I eat even though Mom & Dad thought I had enough.
I often watched Grandy stand in church and give his testimony. To hear his story of faith and to see it in how he lived his life has had a great impact on me.
Today and in the days to come I will always remember my Grandy with great joy, cherishing the precious memories of those loving hugs.

I'm very saddened to hear that my Grandfather "Grandy" has passed. He is a man I've deeply respected and loved.
I'm glad I had the opportunity to grow up next door to my Grandfather. Seeing my Grandfather everyday, helping him tinker about in his garage, watching him wood work, learning about tools are just a few things I've always cherished.
After Nan had passed, I spent a lot of time with him. I remember I couldn't wait for the school week to be over so I could sleepover. We would stay up late watching Boston Bruins games, have talks about anything and everything.
Love you Grandy.

To speak of John Rowe is to do so with deep appreciation for a hard working, kind and generous man. 40 years ago I journeyed to Carbonear to meet the parents, John and Lillian. I ended up in the garage with all the tools, motor oll and projects. After a reasonable interrogation and for every subsequent trip I knew, I was welcomed and felt at home. Rosalie would always say they treat you better than me. I think it had something to do with the chats down in the garage. Cars, new tools from Canadian Tire and often deep man chats that prompted a sense of being blessed. I don't think life was always easy for John but he worked hard and showed the strength of an extraordinary man, friend, father, husband and granddad.
His passing is his Promotion to Glory. It is how salvationist describe the words of scripture...Servant of God Well Done.
No regrets except not being able to be with the family right now but sending love and prayers.
