Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, June 1, 2019, George E. Burden of Blackhead, age 96 years. George loved trouting, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved teaching and being an active part of the community and his sense of humour will surely be missed. Predeceased by his wife of 65 years: Jean; parents: Henry and Elsie (Butt); brothers: Victor and Marmaduke. Leaving to mourn, daughter: Glenda (Daniel) Pike, Carbonear; two grandchildren: Susan (Robin), and Joshua; two great-grandsons: Daniel and Jordan; sisters-in-law: Annie (Varrick) Newell, Mount Pearl and Viola Dawe, Coley’s Point; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay on Tuesday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel's Memorial Chapel, Western Bay. Interment in the United Cemetery, Blackhead. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy donations in his memory may be made to the United Church Cemetery Fund, Blackhead, c/o Guy Bishop, PO Box 3, Broad Cove, A0A 1L0.
