Loretta and family. So deeply saddened to hear of George's passing. My condolences to you all. I got to know George quite well when I worked at Quin Sea and he was a Dockside Monitor. George was quite the character, always with a smile, telling outrageous jokes or singing a few tunes (badly). We had quite a few good laughs over the years. George loved trouting and I once took him to my favourite spot, the pond was never the same after. I told him one time, that he cleaned the pond out. Of course he denied it, laughing, he said he never went back after. Will also miss our little chats over by the Post Office. Rest in Peace George, you were a good man.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of George’s passing. I worked with George for over 15 years with FRC. George was a great lover of the outdoors (fishing and berry picking ) and a great supporter of the CeeBees. We had many interesting conversations at the stadium on Saturday nights watching the game. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Loretta and family.
I very clearly remember the day George came home from Ontario to live. There was a car with Ontario plates parked on Peach's Path across the road from Aunt Aggies and Uncle Malcolm's. Uncle Malcolm was in his garage/shed and called me over, saying that he had someone for me to see. George was tinkering away and told me he was home to stay. It is hard to believe that was 40 years ago. He was glad to be home and excited for the life ahead of him. From then on, you could always count on him sitting in his church pew and looking back with a wink and a smile when he saw me and my brothers sitting in the pew behind him. His big voice and smile will be missed. I am thinking of you at this time. 40 years later, he has made it home again.
I Made It Home
“I just wanted to let you know that I made it home.
The journey wasn’t an easy one, but it didn’t take too long.
Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and new.
I wish that you could close your eyes and that you could see it too.
Please try not to be sad for me.
Try to understand God is taking care of me…I’m in the shelter of His hands.
Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain.
Here there is no crying and I’ll never hurt again.
Here it is so peaceful when all the angels sing.
I really have to go for now… I’ve just got to try my wings.”

George was school walking mate until Grade 8. I still remember Will Ed with George in the porch about George's plan to give up school. It was a firm discussion, however, George did quit and went to Toronto. In school, George would always make me jealous of his spelling ability; I still remember in Grade 8 he had one word spelled incorrectly, of the 50 words: "isle".
In later life, George and I reconnected and were still friends and I still teased him about the funny things we did in school.
I also remember that during one harsh winter day, George and I were the only two students in school; we kept Uncle John Will company that day.
Rest in peace, ol' friend.

So saddened by the passing of George. He was such a friendly, caring and pleasant man who was a joy to be around. He loved his church and as an organist at Salmon Cove church we were so happy when George joined the choir only a short time before his illness. He loved to sing and certainly added to our choir. We will all miss him so much. Deepest sympathy to you all and may your memories keep him close to your hearts.
