I was blessed to work with Ed at Q Radio, VOCM and NTV. He used to call me 'gerry the blueberry' and his friendly hello would make my day. He shot from the hip, and if he didn't think his area was getting a fair shake in day to day news coverage, he'd say so. Ed didn't treasure awards or accolades but was so deserving of many. Some will probably come now that he's gone. Thanks for the stories, thanks for the smiles. Prayers and best wishes to the family.

So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. He weas a good newsman and understood the news business as well as anyone I know . He understood that politics was news but senior hockey was also news. We had many discussions about the business because his career spanned several generations. He worked with some of the real greats in broadcasting and nobody had a bad word to say about Ed Swain. His career is a monument to the idea that you can work in journalism and still be a gentleman . He will be missed and the news business is much diminished by Ed Swain's passing.

Stella, my condolences to you and the Swain family at the passing of Ed. A former colleague at CFIQ in Harbour Grace, we shared many moments of laughter and sincerity. He was my friend - on and off the job. Both Sheila and I are saddened by this: Ed's final news story. Rest in peace my friend. Dave & Sheila White Spaniard's Bay.

I offer my condolences to Stella and the Swain family on the passing of Ed. I recall the countless interviews we did on the parking lot in downtown Carbonear. Whenever a business story broke in our area, I would always receive a call asking "Frank, do you want to do an interview on ....?". Ed was also a loyal customer of my business. Once again, my condolences.
