To the higdon family Helen will surely be missed. Some of my favourite memories from grade school include running down over the hill to get to helen's shop before we got the bus for school. As I got older I would have to visit her all the time to get the key for the canteen on the ball field. May you rest in peace helen. Thinking of your family during this time of loss.

To the Higdon Family I was deeply saddened to hear about Aunt Helen's passing away. I was just in Victoria, in August and had a wonderful little visit with her. I was thankful for that little bit of time to "go down memory lane" with her. She was always apart of our lives. Our family grew up in Corner Brook, and Aunt Helen came to visit us a couple of times each year. She will always hold a special place in my heart. She was a wonderful person who always "spoke her mind" and I love her for that! I believe she had a wonderful way of making each person in her life "feel special". She will be fondly remembered. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Pearl Parsons-Tucker (Saskatchewan)

Paul, Shelley, Jonnathan and Families; Sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I know she was loved by you all and will be missed in the days ahead. I visited Helen a couple of times in the hospital and even though she was in pain, she could still give you a smile. I remember Helen when she was on Council and her dedication to her work as Councillor and to the residents of Victoria. She took so much pride in her work. I remember one time driving with Helen to Corner Brook to a convention and it seemed that everywhere we stopped along the way, Helen knew those serving gas or working in a restaurant. She was a person who was loved by so many, young and old and her legacy will be remembered in years to come. Sharon Snooks

The Higdon famly: So very sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I got to know Helen through the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Each year around relay time, Helen was always the first person to make contact regarding her pledge sheet and her goal was to be the top fundraiser. A goal which she met most every year. This year in particular I had the pleasure of presenting her with her award. As a cancer survivor myself, I know what it feels like to be able to give back to a cause dear to your heart. I understand Helen was an outstanding community citizen as well giving back to her community whenever and wherever she could. Her spirit and sense of community pride will long be remembered. May the happy memories sustain you at this time of grief.

To: Paul, Shelly, Jonathan and Family So sorry to hear of Helen’s Passing, I got to know Helen through my friends from Penny’s and Burke’s hill. Helen’s shop was always a meeting place for us and a place to hang out, chat and carry on. Helen always made us welcome and was very entertaining as she always had a story to tell, many of my grandfather Harry and when he worked at the U.S. Naval Base in Argentia. Helen was like a second mother to all of us and was quick to tell us right from wrong and God help you if started an argument with her on this as some of the boys found out in no short order that was not wise to do. She was great! Helen would call us her boys, on many of my visits back to Victoria and to Helens she would reminisce about what good friends we were and how we were never in trouble, she was very proud of us all. Helen was a wonderful woman who touched the hearts of many and I will never forget her. David Snook and Family

To All The Higdon Family, I was so saddened to hear of Helen's passing. A kinder friendlier person you will never meet. I truelly enjoyed every visit I had with Helen and I marvelled at how much she would do for people expecting nothing in return.I also admired how strong and influential Helen was. The town of Victoria has lost one of its best. I remember many chats we had about Victoria and how she would speak so highly of our hometown. No matter what was going on or what may be said about our town she always defended it and spoke of it so proudly. I will never forget how much she did for me while I was attending nursing school/MUN. How she would see to it that she would get me a job on the Town's student grant. I will always be grateful for this. I will remember how she was equally as proud of me finishing nursing school as my Mom was. Mom always thought so much about her and Helen always spoke highly of Mom. I'm sure they are having a chat right now.In some regards she was like a second mother to me and so many others. To the family:I hope the many fond memories you have of Helen help and guide you through this most difficult time. There will be tears of sadness and there will be much laughter as you all remember the many stories you have of Helen. I hope you find comfort in knowing that Helen suffers no more .Her life on earth has ended and her new life has just begun. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Helen: I will miss you and think of you often. I certainly will miss my visits with you. I'm so glad I had the chance to see you this past Christmas, even during this time of illness you found the strenght to chat with me and have a chuckle. It was a privelage to have known you and to say you were my friend.May you Rest In Peace. God Bless Tony Moores Mt Pearl
